Novrix Documentation
Novrix is Discord's most powerful all-in-one bot platform — a single, deeply integrated system for moderation, engagement, economy, analytics, and automation. This documentation covers everything from first-time setup to advanced API integration.
🚀 Getting Started
Adding Novrix to your Discord server takes less than a minute. Once added, use the web dashboard or slash commands to configure every feature to your exact needs.
Step 1 — Invite Novrix
Add Novrix to your server, select it from the picker, and authorize the requested permissions. We recommend granting Administrator for full functionality, or review the permissions guide to grant granular access.
Step 2 — Run /setup
After the bot joins, run /setup in any channel. The interactive setup wizard guides you through configuring a mod-log channel, welcome messages, and basic automod rules in under 2 minutes.
Step 3 — Open the Dashboard
Visit your dashboard, select your server, and explore the full configuration panel. Every module has its own section with real-time previews and instant saves.
⚙️ Installation & Deployment
Novrix is fully cloud-hosted — zero server maintenance required. Your configuration is persisted across restarts and synchronized in real-time.
Standard (Recommended)
- Click Invite Novrix → authorize for your server
- Grant the permissions requested (or
Administrator) - Run
/setupto configure basics - Open the dashboard for full configuration
Required Bot Intents
Novrix requires the following Discord gateway intents to function correctly:
| Intent | Required For | Status |
|---|---|---|
GUILD_MEMBERS | Welcome messages, auto-role, leveling, anti-raid | ✅ Required |
GUILD_MESSAGES | AutoMod, economy commands, leveling XP | ✅ Required |
GUILD_MESSAGE_CONTENT | Word filter, spam detection, content scanning | ✅ Required (Privileged) |
GUILD_PRESENCES | Member analytics, activity tracking | ⚡ Optional |
GUILD_VOICE_STATES | Voice channel management, temp VCs | ⚡ Optional |
🔐 Permissions
Novrix uses Discord's native permission system — every action it takes is bound by the permissions you grant its bot role. There's no hidden capability that bypasses this.
Administrator — Optional, but Recommended
Administrator is not required. It's recommended because it guarantees every module works without you having to track individual permissions as new features ship. If you'd rather grant only what you're comfortable with, use the granular list below — Novrix will simply skip actions it doesn't have permission for and log why in your Action Log channel.
Per-Module Requirements
| Module | Required Discord Permissions |
|---|---|
| Moderation | Kick Members, Ban Members, Manage Messages, Manage Roles, Timeout Members |
| Action Logs | View Audit Log, Read Message History, Manage Webhooks |
| AutoMod | Manage Messages, Manage Channels, Send Messages |
| Anti-Raid | Kick Members, Ban Members, Manage Channels (server lock), Manage Roles (quarantine) |
| Leveling | Manage Roles, Send Messages, Read Message History |
| Economy Shop | Manage Roles, Send Messages |
| Music | Connect, Speak, Send Messages |
| Tickets | Manage Channels, Manage Roles, Send Messages |
| Voice Management | Manage Channels, Move Members, Connect, Speak |
| Backups | Manage Channels, Manage Roles, Manage Server |
Why Each Permission Is Needed
| Permission | Why Novrix Needs It |
|---|---|
Manage Messages | Deletes messages flagged by AutoMod, and powers /purge. |
Manage Roles | Assigns level-up role rewards, economy shop roles, quarantine roles, and handles /role add|remove. Novrix's role must sit above any role it assigns or removes. |
Kick Members | Powers /kick and the Anti-Raid kick action. |
Ban Members | Powers /ban, /unban, and the Anti-Raid ban action. |
Timeout Members | Powers /timeout and /untimeout, and AutoMod's auto-timeout escalation. |
View Audit Log | Lets Action Logs correctly attribute manual server changes (e.g., who deleted a channel) instead of showing "Unknown." |
Manage Channels | Powers /lock, /unlock, /slowmode, temp voice channels, and ticket channel creation/deletion. |
Manage Nicknames | Powers /nick. |
Manage Webhooks | Lets Novrix post rich Action Log embeds under a dedicated log webhook instead of the bot's own messages, keeping logs clean and rate-limit-safe. |
Move Members | Powers /move and voice-channel management (auto-moving users out of empty temp VCs). |
Administrator | Optional. Covers every permission above at once, so nothing breaks silently as new features ship — recommended for most servers, not required for any single feature. |
⬡ Overview
The landing page when you open a server in the dashboard — a snapshot of server health at a glance, no digging required.
- Predictive Community Insights — Engagement Health (%), Risk Forecast (Low/Moderate/High), Growth Signal (Declining/Stable/Growing), and a plain-language Recommendation based on current trends.
- Server Information — owner, server age, Discord verification level, and channel counts (text/voice).
- Bot Status — online status, live latency, number of commands available, and how many modules are active.
- Security & Protection — a row of chips showing which protections (Spam Filter, Link Filter, Invite Filter, Caps Filter, Anti-Raid, Word Filter) are currently on or off, so you can spot a disabled protection instantly.
📊 Analytics
Trends over time — where your server is growing, where activity is concentrated, and how retention is trending.
- Member growth — new joins over the last 30 days, charted.
- Message activity — messages sent per day, and which channels drive the most conversation.
- Retention — the percentage of members who stay active after joining.
- Top channels — a ranked list by message volume, useful for spotting dead channels worth pruning.
👥 Members
A searchable, sortable list of every member in your server.
- Search by username or ID, sort by join date, level, or warning count.
- Click into a member to see their full profile: roles, join date, account age, warning history, and level/XP.
- Take moderation actions (warn, timeout, kick, ban) directly from a member's profile — no need to switch to Discord and run a slash command.
⚖️ Moderation
Your case history and moderation team's activity, in one place.
- Case list — every warn/kick/ban/timeout with case ID, reason, moderator, and timestamp. Editable reasons.
- Top Moderators — who's been most active, useful for recognizing staff effort.
- Warning thresholds — configure auto-escalation (e.g., 3 warnings → auto-timeout, 5 → auto-ban).
🤖 AutoMod
Every automatic filter, independently toggled and tuned. See the full AutoMod Configuration reference for rule details.
- Enable/disable each filter: word filter, spam detection, caps filter, mention spam, link filter, invite filter, emoji spam, new-account detection.
- Set thresholds per rule (e.g., spam = 5 identical messages in 10 seconds) and choose the action (delete, warn, timeout, kick).
- Add bypass roles per-rule so staff or verified members aren't affected.
- A live incident feed shows recent AutoMod catches as they happen.
🚨 Anti-Raid
Raid detection thresholds and response actions. See Anti-Raid Configuration for the full settings table.
- Set the join threshold and time window that defines a "raid."
- Choose the response: kick, ban, or lock the server entirely.
- Set a minimum account age to auto-filter suspiciously new accounts.
- Pick an alert channel so your mod team is pinged the moment Anti-Raid triggers.
📋 Action Logs
Configure what gets logged and where. See Action Logs for the full list of loggable events.
- Pick one channel for everything, or split events across dedicated channels (e.g., moderation logs vs. server logs).
- Toggle event categories independently: Moderation, Members, Server, Voice.
- Live preview shows exactly what a log entry will look like before you save.
🎫 Tickets
Your support ticket system's control panel.
- Create ticket categories (General Support, Bug Reports, Billing, Appeals, etc.) each with its own routing.
- See open vs. closed counts, average response time, and per-category volume.
- Assign staff roles that get pinged when a new ticket opens in a category.
- Browse and download transcripts of closed tickets.
⭐ Leveling
Configure XP rates and role rewards. See Leveling Configuration for the full settings table.
- Set the XP rate multiplier, cooldown, and channels/roles exempt from earning XP.
- Add level-role rewards — members automatically get a role at a given level.
- Customize the level-up announcement message and where it's posted.
- View the live leaderboard the same way your members see it with
/leaderboard.
💰 Economy
Your virtual currency system's settings and shop. See Economy Configuration for the full settings table.
- Set the currency name, symbol, and daily/weekly/work reward amounts.
- Enable or disable gambling commands (
/slots,/blackjack,/rps) server-wide. - Manage Shop — add items or roles for sale, set prices, and toggle each item active/inactive. Inactive items are hidden from the public server listing page.
🎵 Music
Music module settings.
- Set a DJ role that's required to skip, stop, or manage the queue (optional — off by default, anyone can control playback).
- Set default volume and whether the bot auto-disconnects from an empty voice channel.
- Connect Spotify for richer track metadata and playlist import (see Music module for setup details).
⚙️ Settings
Server-wide bot configuration and account-level controls.
- Dashboard display language, module enable/disable toggles for every feature, and updates-channel configuration.
- Danger Zone — permanently delete all Novrix data for your server. This is separate from removing the bot (which retains your config for 30 days) and cannot be undone.
🔧 Administration Commands
Core commands for server setup, configuration, and maintenance. Most require Manage Server or Administrator.
/backup restore./backup create → Creates a timestamped snapshot you can restore from the dashboard.🛡️ Moderation Commands
Full suite of punishment tools with automatic case tracking, appeal support, and DM notifications to users. All actions are logged to your action log channel.
/warn @User Spamming in #general — First warning/timeout @User 1h Breaking rule 3 — Duration: 10m, 1h, 7d, 28d/ban @User 7d Posting malicious links — leave duration blank for permanent./purge 50 user:@Spammer — Deletes the last 50 messages from that user in the current channel.👥 Members & Roles Commands
⭐ Leveling Commands
Novrix's leveling system awards XP for messages sent (with configurable cooldowns to prevent spam). Members level up, earn role rewards, and compete on the leaderboard.
/levelrole add 10 @Active Member — Everyone who hits level 10 gets the role automatically.5 × (N²) + 50N + 100. Configure the XP rate multiplier in the dashboard.💰 Economy Commands
Virtual currency system with daily rewards, work, gambling, and a configurable shop. Server admins can set the currency name and configure all rates from the dashboard.
🛠️ Utility Commands
/poll end.create, end, reroll, list🎮 Fun & Social Commands
🚨 Anti-Raid Configuration
Anti-Raid watches for sudden spikes in server joins that indicate a coordinated raid. Configure thresholds, actions, and detection sensitivity from the dashboard.
How It Works
Novrix tracks how many members join within a rolling time window. If the join rate exceeds your threshold, Anti-Raid triggers — locking the server, kicking/banning newcomers, and alerting your mod team.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Join Threshold | 10 joins | How many joins in the time window triggers the alert |
| Time Window | 10 seconds | The rolling window to count joins in |
| Action | Kick | What to do with raiders: kick, ban, or lock server |
| Account Age | 7 days | Auto-kick any new account younger than this threshold |
| Alert Channel | None | Channel to ping mods when a raid is detected |
| Verification Level | Unchanged | Optionally raise Discord's verification level during a raid |
🤖 AutoMod Configuration
AutoMod automatically detects and acts on rule violations without moderator intervention. Each rule type is independently configurable.
Rule Types
| Rule | What It Detects | Action Options |
|---|---|---|
| Word Filter | Blocked words/phrases (supports wildcards) | Delete, warn, timeout, kick |
| Spam Detection | X identical messages in Y seconds from one user | Delete, timeout (auto-escalating) |
| Caps Filter | Messages over X% uppercase | Delete, warn |
| Mention Spam | Messages with more than X @mentions | Delete, timeout |
| Link Filter | All links, or links not on your allowlist | Delete, warn |
| Invite Filter | Discord invite links to other servers | Delete, warn |
| Emoji Spam | Messages with more than X emoji | Delete, warn |
| New Account | Messages from accounts younger than X days | Delete, quarantine role |
Bypass Roles
Set roles that are exempt from AutoMod rules (e.g., Moderator, Verified Member). Bypass roles are configured per-rule.
# Example AutoMod configuration via /settings
/settings automod word-filter enable
/settings automod word-filter add-word "badword"
/settings automod spam threshold 5 window 10
/settings automod bypass-role @Moderators

- Timeouts (native Discord timeout, 1 minute – 28 days)
- Kicks and bans, including temporary bans with auto-expiry
- Bulk message purge with user/content filters
- Channel lock/unlock and slowmode
- Full case tracking — every action gets a case ID, editable reason, and moderator attribution
Permissions
Kick Members, Ban Members, Manage Messages, Manage Roles, Timeout Members. See the full Permissions reference for why each is needed.
Commands
See the full Moderation Commands reference — /warn, /timeout, /kick, /ban, /purge, /lock, and more.
Example
# Warn a user, then check their history
/warn @User Spamming in #general
/warnings @User
Best Practices
- Set warning thresholds (Dashboard → Moderation) so repeat offenders escalate automatically instead of relying on staff to remember.
- Keep Action Logs on for Moderation events from day one — a full audit trail makes appeals and disputes much easier to resolve.
- Use
/caseand/reasonto keep case notes accurate after the fact rather than re-issuing actions.
Common Issues
- Command fails silently: almost always a role hierarchy issue — Novrix's role must sit above the target user's highest role.
- Timeout won't apply: Discord caps timeouts at 28 days; longer durations aren't possible via the API.
🤖 AutoMod
Features
- Word filter, spam detection, caps filter, mention spam, link/invite filter, emoji spam, new-account filter
- AI-powered image scanning — OCR, QR/barcode detection, and logo/creator recognition to catch scam giveaway images and phishing screenshots, not just text
- Per-rule bypass roles and independent enable/disable per rule
Permissions
Manage Messages, Manage Channels, Send Messages.
Commands & Configuration
Configured primarily through the dashboard AutoMod page or /settings automod. See AutoMod Configuration for the full rule-type table.
Example
# Configure spam detection via /settings
/settings automod spam threshold 5 window 10
/settings automod bypass-role @Moderators
Best Practices
- Start with delete-only actions on new rules, watch the incident feed for a day, then escalate to warn/timeout once you're confident there are no false positives.
- Always add a bypass role for your moderators and any bots that post frequently (e.g., a stats bot).
Common Issues
- Messages aren't being deleted: confirm Novrix has Manage Messages in that specific channel — channel-level overrides can silently block it even if the server-wide permission is granted.
- Rule seems too aggressive: check the bypass role list — a common cause is forgetting to exempt a legitimate bot or announcement channel.
🚨 Anti-Raid
Features
- Join-rate monitoring with a configurable threshold and rolling time window
- Automatic response: kick, ban, or full server lock
- Minimum account age filter to catch mass-created throwaway accounts
- Optional temporary bump to Discord's server verification level during an active raid
Permissions
Kick Members, Ban Members, Manage Channels (server lock), Manage Roles (quarantine).
Configuration
See Anti-Raid Configuration for the full defaults table, or the dashboard Anti-Raid page.
Best Practices
- If you run giveaways or cross-server promotion that causes legitimate join spikes, raise your threshold (20–30 joins/30s) beforehand rather than reactively during the spike.
- Always set an alert channel — a raid response that fires with no one watching is far less useful than one your team can immediately verify and adjust.
Common Issues
- False positives during events: lower sensitivity temporarily before running giveaways, contests, or partnership pushes.
- Raid not detected: check the time window — a slow-drip raid (just under threshold, spread over minutes) can evade a tight window; widen it if you see this pattern.
🎵 Music
Features
- Queue management, skip voting, loop/repeat modes
- Spotify link support (queues the matching track from the configured audio source)
- Live lyrics display and an animated visualizer in voice channel activity
- Automatic reconnection on voice connection drops
Permissions
Connect, Speak, Send Messages.
Commands
Run /help music in Discord for the full live command list, or manage playback from the dashboard Music page.
Best Practices
- Set a DJ role on larger servers so playback control doesn't turn into a free-for-all during busy voice sessions.
- Enable auto-disconnect from empty channels to avoid the bot idling in a voice channel with no one listening.
Common Issues
- Bot won't join voice: check it has Connect and Speak permissions in that specific voice channel — voice channels often have their own permission overrides.
- Audio cuts out: usually a temporary source-side issue; Novrix auto-reconnects, but skipping to the next track manually resolves it immediately.
💰 Economy
Features
- Daily/weekly rewards with streak bonuses,
/work, and peer-to-peer transfers - Gambling games —
/slots,/blackjack,/rps— each individually toggleable - Configurable shop — sell roles or items, with per-item active/inactive toggling
Permissions
Manage Roles (for shop role purchases), Send Messages.
Commands & Configuration
See Economy Commands for the full list and Economy Configuration for rate defaults.
Best Practices
- Tune the currency reward rates to your server's message volume — a fast-moving server may need lower per-action rewards to keep the economy balanced.
- Only enable gambling commands if that fits your community's tone; they're off by default on new setups.
Common Issues
- Shop items not showing on the public listing: the item must be toggled Active in Dashboard → Economy → Manage Shop.
- Balances don't carry between servers: this is by design — economy is per-server, not global.
⭐ Leveling
Features
- Message-based XP with a cooldown to prevent spam-leveling
- Level-role rewards, awarded automatically the moment a member crosses the threshold
- Customizable level-up announcements with template variables
- Server leaderboard, viewable in Discord or the dashboard
Permissions
Manage Roles, Send Messages, Read Message History.
Commands & Configuration
See Leveling Commands and Leveling Configuration for the XP formula and rate defaults.
Best Practices
- Exempt bot-command and spam channels from earning XP so the leaderboard reflects real engagement, not command spam.
- Space level-role rewards out (e.g., every 5–10 levels) rather than every level, so they stay meaningful milestones.
Common Issues
- Members not gaining XP: check they're not in an ignored channel or holding an ignored role, and that the 60-second cooldown hasn't just reset.
- Level role not assigned: Novrix's role must be positioned above the level-reward role to assign it.
🎫 Tickets
Features
- Multiple ticket categories, each with independent staff-role routing
- Private per-ticket channels created and cleaned up automatically
- Transcript saving on close for record-keeping and dispute resolution
Permissions
Manage Channels, Manage Roles, Send Messages.
Configuration
Set up categories and routing from the dashboard Tickets page.
Example
A member clicks "Open Ticket" → picks a category (e.g., Bug Report) → a private channel is created and the routed staff role is pinged → staff resolves and closes → transcript is saved automatically.
Best Practices
- Split high-volume categories (like General Support) from low-volume, sensitive ones (like Appeals) so routing and staff visibility stay clear.
- Review transcripts periodically — recurring ticket topics are a strong signal of what belongs in your FAQ or welcome message.
Common Issues
- Ticket channel not created: confirm Novrix has Manage Channels — this is required to create and later delete the private channel.
- Staff not pinged: check the category's routed role in Dashboard → Tickets — an unset role means no ping fires.

📡 Real-Time Updates (SSE)
The Novrix dashboard uses Server-Sent Events to push live updates from the bot to your browser. This powers real-time member lists, live mod logs, and instant analytics without polling.
// Connect to the SSE stream
const source = new EventSource('/api/server/GUILD_ID/stream');
source.addEventListener('mod_action', (e) => {
const data = JSON.parse(e.data);
console.log('New mod action:', data);
});
source.addEventListener('member_update', (e) => { ... });
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
General
Is Novrix free?
Yes — the core features (moderation, leveling, basic economy, action logs, anti-raid, AutoMod) are completely free. Premium plans unlock higher limits, advanced analytics, the server shop system, and priority support.
How many servers can I use Novrix in?
Unlimited. You can add Novrix to as many servers as you own or manage. Each server maintains its own independent configuration.
Can I customize the bot's username or avatar?
Novrix's global username/avatar is set by the bot owner. You can set a per-server nickname for the bot via /nick @Novrix YourNickname (requires Manage Nicknames).
Moderation
Why isn't AutoMod deleting messages?
Check that Novrix has Manage Messages permission in the affected channel. Also verify the rule is enabled in Dashboard → Moderation → AutoMod. Check if the user has a bypass role set on that rule.
How do warning thresholds work?
Set thresholds in Dashboard → Moderation → Warning Thresholds. Example: 3 warnings = auto-mute 1h, 5 warnings = auto-ban. Thresholds fire when a new warning is issued that hits the count.
Economy
Why aren't shop items appearing on the server listing page?
Shop items must be (1) created via Dashboard → Economy → Manage Shop, and (2) have Active toggled on. Items with isActive: false are hidden from the public server detail page.
Can members transfer currency between servers?
No — economy balances are per-server. A user's coins in Server A are completely separate from their coins in Server B.
Technical
What happens if Novrix goes offline?
Novrix targets 99.9% uptime. During brief outages, commands won't respond and logs won't fire, but no data is lost. All configurations are persisted in the database and resume automatically when the bot reconnects.
How do I reset all bot data for my server?
Go to Dashboard → Settings → Danger Zone → Reset Server Data. This clears all Novrix data for your server (warnings, levels, economy, settings). This action is irreversible — create a backup first.
🔍 Troubleshooting
Bot Not Responding
- Check status.novrixbot.com for active incidents
- Ensure the bot role has View Channel and Send Messages in the channel
- Try running
/ping— if it responds, slash commands are working - Re-invite the bot if slash commands stopped appearing (Discord sometimes de-registers them)
Permission Errors
- Move Novrix's bot role above the roles it needs to manage
- Check channel-level permission overrides — they override role permissions
- For voice channel actions, ensure Novrix has Move Members and Connect
Dashboard Not Saving
- Ensure you have Manage Server in the target guild
- Try refreshing the page and re-logging in
- Check the browser console for any network errors and report them to support
